Balsamic dressing is versatile, healthy and so easy to make and store! You can use it on salads, meats, vegetables and even sandwiches to add a robust zing that brings out, rather than masking, the flavors in your food like many typical grocery store dressings will do. Grocery store dressings are full of GMO’s and MSG as well as preservatives & additives. Constantly purchasing dressing at the grocery store is also more expensive and produces needless container waste. Below is my staple balsamic dressing recipe. You can whip this up in less than 3 minutes and avoid all of the bad things lurking in those store bought dressings while enjoying healthy flavor! Simply keep it in a glass jar in your refrigerator. Store dressings contain emulsifiers which help them stay blended on the shelf but don’t do anything good for you. You can shake the healthy balsamic dressing right in the jar to emulsify before each use.
½ cup Balsamic Vinegar
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon mustard
1 pinch of sea salt
1 small clove of garlic finely mashed (or minced if preparing in a food processor)
½ teaspoon of honey (optional)
If you finely mince or mash the garlic you can simply place all of the ingredients into your jar and shake vigorously to emulsify. Alternatively you can also place all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender for blending. I told you it was easy!
